Kidnapped (David Balfour #1)

Kidnapped was originally released in 1886 in Young People magazine as a boys' book. It's an English-language historical fiction story with occasional conversation in Lowland Scots that takes place in Scotland. The plot of Kidnapped is based on actual events that took place in Scotland in the 18th century particularly the Appin murder which happened following the Jacobite uprising of 1745. Many of the characters including one of the main characters Alan Breck Stewart are actual persons. Several perspectives on the political climate of the period are presented and the Scottish Highlands are given sympathetic treatment.
