About The Book

Briseis a young Trojan woman was captured and made concubine by the invading Greeks. She set off the plot of the Iliad then was forgotten as the big heroes took over the epic. Her untold story was taken up through the ages finally as Cressida for Chaucer and Shakespeare. In this novel Briseis comes alive in 20th century America. Kiki is a young woman out of place in her land working a meaningless job going for the beauty and wildness of her pagan nature. She seeks other dimensions through poetry the mountains of Colorado eros and music. She gets swept up into a corporate takeover transgresses roles shes supposed to follow. Interweaving Kikis story is that of Anna and Josef exiles from Communist Poland. Josef tries to find Briseis in music. Anna his wife writes words for his performance while haunted by Briseis who influences her erotic daring and adultery. The novels characters live in alternate destinies caught up in pagan storylines that arent symmetric to the older tales. They engage the ancient myths and enact their own.
