King Lear

King Lear is a tragedy play by William Shakespeare believed to have been written between 1603 and 1606. The play tells the story of King Lear a ruler in ancient Britain who decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters based on their expressions of love for him. The two elder daughters Goneril and Regan flatter their father with false professions of love while the youngest daughter Cordelia refuses to participate in the competition and is banished.
