<p>James Hardy Fielding grew up near Manchester England operating machinery in the coal mining industry. The industrial revolution was bringing bigger cloth making machinery requiring more coal with each passing year. James and his wife Ann had a large family and at one point decided their whole family should immigrate to the western United States. This story is based on historical facts surrounding James and his family. It gives insight into the struggles of the day and what they did to cope with them.</p>
