Knowledge management in higher education institutions

About The Book

Universities have been demanded to modernize their management and processes to achieve greater efficiency in the performance of their activities and better quality of service. As complex organizations which work directly with knowledge they need to adopt a managerial model that allows them to manage knowledge and preserve the organizational memory. As a large part of the knowledge in universities is held by their collaborators this research based on Knowledge Management techniques proposed to investigate knowledge sharing practices involving the main administrative sectors linked to the School of Engineering (EE) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). To this end a Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) was developed and applied to technical-administrative education employees (TAEs) in key sectors of the EE. The analyses revealed important elements that come to the aid of administrative management based mainly on the improvement of institutional knowledge sharing.
