Hermann Hesse's book Knulp was released in Germany in 1915. In the years prior to the publication of Demian it was Hesse's most well-read novel. The book is divided into three distinct tales each of which focuses on the life of Knulp the protagonist. The character of Knulp who was once a talented and promising young man is portrayed as an amicable wanderer who constantly moves from town to town residing with friends.
