Komponenten der Raumfahrt. Steuerung und Regelung in der Raumfahrttechnik

Starting from the space research and space aviation programs a review is given on the components of space aviation technique. This is followed by information on the most important rcsults of space flight mechanics; these results permit conclusions on achievable pay­ loads and the flight paths of one or more stage rockets. After discussion of energy sources suited for space aviation the chemical propulsions their possibilities of development and their Iimits are dealt with; the report then proceeds to the present status of research and technique of non-chemical propulsions. The importance of nuclear energy as an energy source is espe­ cially emphasized. Brief remarks on space vehicles which have been launched so far are followed by a description of the extensive ground equipment the expense of which represents a considerable part of the total effort and also requires extraordinary engineering efficiency. Finally the possibilities of German participation in space aviation are dealt with. The European organizations ELDO and ESRO and the necessity of a national program are discussed.
