La trama ruota attorno a Rosaura una giovane e ricca vedova veneziana e ai suoi quattro pretendenti: un francese un inglese uno spagnolo e un italiano. Ognuno di loro cerca di conquistare il suo cuore con mezzi diversi e spesso ridicoli.</p> <p>Rosaura però è una donna intelligente e scaltra e decide di mettere alla prova i suoi corteggiatori per scoprire chi sia il più sincero e degno del suo amore. Attraverso una serie di inganni e stratagemmi la vedova smaschera i difetti e le debolezze di ciascuno rivelando la loro vera natura.</p> <p>Con dialoghi brillanti e personaggi vivaci La Vedova Scaltra è un'opera che celebra l'intelligenza femminile e critica i vizi e le convenzioni della società del tempo.
