Lady Susan

The novel tells the story of Lady Susan Vernon a beautiful and charming widow who is forced to leave her home due to rumors of her scandalous behavior. She goes to stay with her brother-in-law Charles Vernon and his wife Catherine and begins to manipulate those around her in order to achieve her goals. Lady Susan is a master at playing people against each other and she uses her wit and cunning to get what she wants including the affection of a young and wealthy man named Reginald De Courcy. The novel is notable for its sharp wit clever plot twists and the complexity of its main character Lady Susan. Although it was not published during Austens lifetime Lady Susan is now considered to be one of her most accomplished works and has been adapted into various films and TV shows.
