<span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>The 30 March 1972 Easter Day Offensive consisted of a massive coordinated three-pronged attack. In response President Nixon called up a massive buildup of naval firepower. This included the Norfolk Virginia based USS Mullinnix DD-944. The last all-gun destroyer in naval history. She participated in 171 NGFS missions delivered 14472 rounds in 88 days of combat action. Surviving enemy counterbattery on four occasions.

<span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>Few books have been written from a Navy perspective. And the majority of those focus on aircraft carriers planes and Brown Water Navy. This book is different. It's about a gunship with only one mission. Naval Gunfire Support (NGFS).

<span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>It's not written by a retired Admiral or four-striper. Just a regular E-3 who happened to have the unenviable job of pulling the trigger. The story is real and historically accurate. It's raw and honest. It illustrates the exhaustion humor tension destruction and terror of war. Anxiety fatigue and dread. Intensity that was unbearable even excruciating. The astonishing closeness of shipmates the attitude regrets and mental anguish. Simple survival. This is our story.
