<p>Two words-science project-inspire dread in Kristin Meese. A good student in the coastal Maine town of Mastport Kristin plans to survive the project and perhaps earn a decent grade by working with her best friend Tess. After her science teacher assigns Kristin to be partners with Riley Bennettson a girl who would rather play lacrosse than do her homework Kristin figures she is doomed to a terrible project and a bad grade.</p><p>To make matters even worse Kristin and Riley get Trash as their project topic. Barely able to talk without arguing the girls settle into an uneasy partnership when they discover a serious environmental problem in Mastport. When their project stirs up a controversy in town the girls face a difficult decision. Should they wrap up their work and go their separate ways or take action together to protect Mastport's environment?</p><p>Inspired by a true story.</p>
