<p>Ce roman est inspiré de la vie d'un soldat de l'infanterie coloniale élevé au grade de lieutenant après une époustouflante carrière militaire. Lorsqu'il fut démobilisé l'administration coloniale le récompensa en le nommant chef de canton de Siyèndugu dans le Soudan français de l'époque en Afrique de l'Ouest. Mais il va défrayer la chronique en raison de ses méthodes d'administration efficaces aux yeux du colonisateur mais fort décriées par la communauté qui a estimé qu'il a dépassé les limites. L'aventure de cet ancien tirailleur sénégalais un phénix qui aurait été victime d'une cabale constitue un des plus étonnants phénomènes de l'histoire du Manden colonial. Il n'est donc guère surprenant qu'à son sujet on épilogue encore et qu'un historien du cru éprouve le désir de lui consacrer un roman historique.</p><p>This novel is inspired by the life of a colonial infantry soldier raised to the rank of lieutenant after a spectacular military career. When he was demobilized the colonial administration rewarded him by appointing him canton chief of Siyèndugu in what was then French Sudan West Africa. However he would make headlines because of his administrative methods effective in the eyes of the colonizer but highly criticized by the community who felt he had overstepped their bounds. The adventure of this former Senegalese infantryman a phoenix who was allegedly the victim of a conspiracy constitutes one of the most astonishing phenomena in the history of colonial Manden. It is therefore hardly surprising that he is still being discussed and that a local historian would feel the desire to devote a historical novel to him.</p><p></p><p></p>
