This work contrary to many tradition-critical studies demonstrates a Lukan unitary conception for Luke 22:24-30. The author argues that the pericope is unified by its overarching full-circle reversal form (the great are to serve; loyal ''servants'' will be ''great'') a pervasive interest in authority which challenges conventional ideas of power and greatness and a keen concern for the solidarity of the apostles with Jesus. The literary unified achievement in 22:24-30 provides a point of reference for Luke''s thought and theology especially in the areas of eschatology and ecclesiology.
