The book examined the state of service delivery bythe South Africa public service. In thisrespect selected South African public serviceorganizations where examined using the casestudy and triangulation approaches. It was evidentthat conventional approaches ofleadership have singularly failed in theirapplication by the South African public service. Itwas also clear that there where weaknesses ofgovernance principles in aspects of the publicservice. It was evident that sustainable publicservice delivery by the South African publicservice required a consideration of local narrativesand local issues that needed to beintegrated within the current leadership andgovernance framework. The findings indicatedthat traditional African leadership and governancevalues have not been fully integrated bySouth African public service organizations. The booksuggests that traditional Africanleadership and governance values (particularly moraland ethical leadership and goodgovernance principles) can positively influence theSouth African public service. Atransformative African leadership and governancemodel was thus devised for adoption bythe South African public service.
