Etymology and Conceptual Field Leadership comes from the English word leader [archive] the leader not the peer-appointed leader of a political party in Britain and the suffix -ship. Broadly speaking it can be defined as the ability of an individual to influence motivate and enable others to contribute to the effectiveness and success of the organizations of which they are members.2 It refers to behaviours that can be recognized in the person who performs the function of the leader.
