An eco-epidemiological exploration of leptospirosis in Seychelles with (i) rats used as markers of environmental exposure to Leptospira infection (ii) a description of the molecular epidemiology of the disease in humans and animals through a One Health perspective and (iii) the identification of occupational and behavioural risk factors in comparing the current situation with that described 25 years ago. A combination of fine spatial distribution molecular and clinical epidemiology complement each other to provide a comprehensive picture of shared continuum of human hosts with environmental and animal reservoirs.
