Collocations as a fascinating linguistic phenomenon reflect the linguisticstylistic and cultural features of any languages.The importance of collocationsthe syntactic and semantic patterns they follow in a language and in the translation of literary textsthe way(s)in which they are translatedwould be the matter of investigation in this book.This book attempts to shed light on the nature of the differences in collocational patterning of Persian and English languages.Based on a careful content analysis of eleven Persian texts(nontranslated)and their translations(translated texts)from different genres and periods of time which were translated by the native bilingual English translators or official English authoritiesthe authors found that there was a significant difference between Persian and English collocational patterns.In Persian languagenoun+adjective pattern is the most frequent one while in English textsadjective+ noun and noun+noun are highly frequent patterns.Shifts in translation of Persian to English collocational patterns during the time is an interesting finding of this book.It shows that the more Persian language is knownthe more accurate translation is available
