Libertarian Socialist Apollon Karelin

About The Book

Doctor of Historical Sciences Vladimir Sapon in his new book studies the biography of a legendary and mysterious figure in Russian revolutionary history - Apollon Andreevich Karelin (1863-1926). His first arrest took place a few days after the assassination of Tsar Alexander II in March 1881 and in his old age he was a witness of formation of the Soviet political regime. In the prime of his life Karelin became an anarchist but it did not prevent him from being after the October Revolution of 1917 the leader of an Anarchist group in the supreme organ of the Soviet state - All-Russia Central Executive Committee. In the evening of his life this person was known as a public figure loyal to the authorities and on the other hand his associates knew him as knight Santey organizer and leader of anarcho-mystical movement in Soviet Russia. This is the first monograph devoted to the life and activities of the prominent Russian revolutionary and politician.
