His investigations take him from the poverty of the village of Oak Old Crossroads to the hustle and bustle of London and then on to South Africa at the time of the Anglo–Zulu war and the battles of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift. 1977 When Gary Stevens and his wife Anne move to what is now Oak Cross village he is shocked to discover that the murders and robbery of a century earlier are part of his family history. He joins forces with a retired reporter to find out what really happened. But is it sensible to dig up the past when some secrets are so close to home?
