Literature as the interface between art and the living world

This collection of contributions lies at a seam in many ways offering evidence of diverse worlds of life. Its content spans centuries ranging from the era of German classicism to the phenomena of a digitalized and virtual world. They connect inner and outer worlds by engaging with concrete texts and their contexts. The interdisciplinary approach corresponds to an intercultural one in that the contributions interpret German and Czech literature or literature from a German and Czech perspective. This intercultural constellation given by the origins of the two authors is complemented by a somewhat intergenerational aspect-the authors' ages and their respective positions in the academic world are somewhat different. The book appeals to readers open to the diversity of such inter references. The authors are aware that alongside the relevant scholarly contributions there will also be more informal essayistic contributions and hope that this will also contribute to the reader's interest.
