In Xiaoxi Tian Li Shilian and Zhang Jiefu learned that Cheng Zhiqian had connections with several high-ranking officials in Shaanxi so they curry favor with him which he despised. Jia Duocai a banker living in Xiaoxitian fell in love with Hu Yueying a woman who had fled from Gansu and intended to buy her. Wang Beihai a student of Cheng Zhiqian also fell in love with Hu Yueying which led to various incidents. Li Shilian Zhang Jiefu and the destitute woman Yang Huanhua all sought help from Jia Duocai so they worked together to help Jia Duocai accomplish this matter. However Jia Duocai was not calm after buying Hu Yueying and as a result he angered the special envoy's wife. At the same time he also sought help from Wang Beihai for the bank's business and ultimately released Yueying. Yueying and Beihai finally got married while Cheng Zhiqian left Xiaoxitian to continue his exploration journey in the northwest. The hotel Xiao Xitian in Xi'an city still receives people of all kinds and tells stories of joys and sorrows.</p><p></p><p>民国时期，知识分子程志前与求官者李士廉、张介夫等人，搭乘德国人的汽车前往西安，落脚在了城内的旅馆小西天之中。在小西天之中，李士廉、张介夫了解到程志前与多名陕西高官有关系，于是对志前进行巴结，为志前所厌弃。住在小西天的银行家贾多才，看上了由甘肃逃难来的女子胡月英，意欲买下，而程志前的学生王北海亦与胡月英两情相悦，于是产生种种事端。李士廉、张介夫及落魄女杨浣花皆有求于贾多才，于是合力替贾多才办成此事。然而贾多才买下胡月英以后并不平静，并因此惹上了特派员的太太，同时自己为了银行的生意又有求于王北海，最终放了月英。月英与北海终成眷属，而程志前则离开小西天，继续自己的西北考察之旅。西安城内*的旅馆小西天，仍然在接待着各色各样的人，发生着悲欢离合的故事。</p>
