About The Book

I came that you may have life and have it in all its fullness (John 10:10). In this book Steven Underdown presents the paschal mystery--the death and resurrection of Jesus--as the means by which the fullness of life promised by Christ was first realized. But the paschal mystery is also the goal of all human life: it is only within the paschal mystery that human beings can find this fullness: open to be given in love we are open to receive new life. The book explores some of the ways by which under Gods grace the church can establish patterns of living that will enable growth into the paschal mystery. It focuses in particular on a weekly pattern established in various parish and monastic communities in which every week is celebrated as a kind of Holy Week in miniature. This pattern is seen as both presenting the paschal mystery and as facilitating life-giving response. It opens up the holy mystery to our participation for the sake of our ultimate fulfillment.
