About The Book

The history of the Seminole Indians from 1945 to the acquisition of Hard Rock Cafe an international corporation. The story is told from the perspective of the child who witnessed adverse poverty through to the successful business acumen of the Seminole Indians living in Florida. Including the creation of two tribes while transitioning from Chickee living to conventional housing. Most importantly their challenge to enter public schools successfully in segregated Florida. Filled with photos documenting the transition taken by the author and her family. The story is supported by research and a bibliography. As an elementary school student Edna (DeHass) Siniff spent many fun hours on the Dania (Now Hollywood) Reservation. On a family trip to Big Cypress Reservation the author and her brother were separated from their parents during a torrential rainstorm. Thanks to the generosity of Seminole families the two had a summer camp experience beyond all dreams.
