The study gathers the research status on theoretical leadership approaches and their adjustments for the area of cultural diversity. In addition requirements on the level of leaders are presented. In the second part of this article the focus is on the critical evaluation of requirements for leadership and the discussion of long-term successful diversity leadership approaches concerning the necessity of adjustments and the implementation process. Finally recommendations for future research and development are supplied and a comprehensive conclusion is made.
