Nothing is the same for Jessica distraught after unsuccessfully trying to deal with a divorce from her husband Richard. She impulsively quits her job in an effort to get away from it all. Jessica embarks on a journey where things get more complicated at every twist and turn of the road and she eventually finds herself lost in a world of danger. Desperately needing her best friend Margaret she is unable to reach her unaware that Margaret is facing her own demons. Rhonda Cunningham a detective in the quiet little beach town of Sunnyside soon comes in contact with a frantic Margaret who shows up at her office. Fearing for her own life Margaret works up the nerve to go to the police and report a heated argument her neighbors were having. Rhonda hates domestic violence cases but she soon learns her own sister Patricia has confronted her abusive husband. Five murders later each of them struggles to come to terms with issues as they all come together in unexpected ways and things go horribly wrong.
