The catalyst being the war in Europe. Conscription failed for the second time and the call for volunteers to join the fight and fill the void created by thousands of deaths was getting louder. Albert Henri Menere a family man with 6 young children could not ignore the call any longer. So at 36 years of age he enlisted.
