Gina Di Cappo lives what she believes to be an idyllic life with her husband Vittorio and their two children in a villa just outside Sorrento in Southern Italy overlooking the Mediterranean. But her whole life changes one day in May Viv and her architect husband Andrew also have a good life in a village just outside Oxford where they live with their three children. But their family is torn apart when Andrew makes a business trip to Italy. And who is the girl travelling with Andrew? Alan and Harry have just graduated from university and are backpacking their way from their native Australia to London stopping on the way among other places at Harry's Uncle Luciano in a village near Amalfi. And what is the mysterious package they are carrying for Spyros the restaurant owner they met in Greece?
