The idea to obtain the possibility to live in Cities able to offer a high life quality is currently widespread. This leads to the increasingly important concept of Smart City. One of the main requirements of this kind of Cities is the energy self-production from renewable energy sources. In this work the Author underlines how the Microgrids if correctly managed could become the main solution for the energy production of the Smart City districts. The Microgrid built in the Savona Campus (University of Genoa) is used as a test case to show the pros and cons of this kind of innovative green energy production system.
