Made in Surat

Surat is a city located beside the Tapi River in the west Indian state of Gujarat famously known for its food textile and diamond industries. It is the first city where the British landed in India. The Dutch and the Portuguese also established their business centers in Surat the remnants of which are still preserved in modern-day Surat. Surat continues to have the tradition of people flocking in from different parts of the world to look for jobs and business opportunities. It is believed that Surat has a zero percent unemployment rate. Hence it is easier to find jobs due to the variety of industries present in Surat. We the Students of Maverick Learning Centre took it upon ourselves to learn more about the entrepreneurs of Surat. After interviewing 12 entrepreneurs to learn more about their businesses we present “Made in Surat”. This book is a culmination of the stories of Surat entrepreneurs who made it big in the business world.
