Agriculture is still the main means of employment and livelihood for the rural population in this state of Madhya Pradesh which is still traditional and most of the agricultural work here is dependent on rain. Despite this due to the tireless hard work of the farmers of the state today Madhya Pradesh is paramount in terms of agriculture.  In many cases we have overtaken other states. While we continue to be number one in the country in the production of crops like total pulses gram soybean guava tomato garlic we are second in the production of crops like total oilseeds wheat total food grains amla orange and coriander.
