About The Book

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a type of scan that uses strong magnetic fields (super conducting) and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body.

The magnetic field also causes the tissue to tune in or resonate at a very specific radio frequency. That is why the procedure is known as magnetic resonance imaging.

The principle behind NMR is that many nuclei have spin and all nuclei are electrically charged. If an external magnetic field is applied an energy transfer is possible between the base energy to a higher energy level (generally a single energy gap).

Gradients- The gradients are produced by a set of gradient coils which are contained within the magnet assembly. It does different types of function to get clear MRI.

Shimming is the process of adjusting the magnetic field to make it more uniform.

The radio frequency (RF) system provides the communications link with the patients body for the purpose of producing an image. The resulting image is a display of RF signal intensities produced by the different tissues.

The parts of NMR are explained elaborately with figures and Maintenance Repair Trouble shooting (user level) are given. fMRI is mentioned to understand. Heavy magnet is used so safety from the Equipment is explained clearly. Digital Signal Processing Linearization and reconstruction are explained
