Gender discrimination is an evil experienced by the women around the world. Women have been exposed to this evil at homes and as well as at their workplaces. Though the Indian Constitution guarantees Right to Equality as a fundamental right yet on many occasions gender based discrimination was prevalent. In the era of judicial activism public interest litigation and women empowerment many laws and rules were challenged and new interpretations were given to the old laws or they were struck down by the judiciary to fulfill the constitutional mandate of equality and justice for all.
