Aurangzeb seizes the Mughal throne by imprisoning his relatives and killing his siblings. Under his tyrannical rule music and art have no place.In such an environment his eldest beloved daughter Zebunnisa forms a secret poetry group called ‘Makfi’ and through it rebels against her father.This novel which is half history and half fiction shows us 17th century India through the eyes of a Mughal princess.
