<p><strong><em>Making Culture by Hand</em></strong> travels to places rural suburban and urban where tradition and innovation merge in the work of individuals like Sonia Domsch who dedicated their lives to making crafts that are are deeply personal but are nonetheless committed to the enduring values of their families and community.</p><p><br></p><p>Sonia Domsch of Atwood Kansas was a fourth-generation artist in the family tradition of bobbin lacemaking. Using fancy linen thread she makes doilies and lace for use on tablecloths bookmarks clothing handkerchiefs and pillow covers.
