MANAGEMENT OF TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN THE ELDERLY

About The Book

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) is a disease of great public health importance being the most common non-communicable disease caused by a combination of genetic environmental and behavioral factors. The Intervention Mapping (IM) methodology is described as a strategy to develop health promotion programs based on theory and evidence characterized by three perspectives with an approach in primary and community care which are: ecological approach since it considers the elements of the environment the participation of all stakeholders both patients community and health personnel and finally the use of theories. The self-management of older adult patients in Mexico with a diagnosis of T2DM has been inadequately addressed with patient-centered interventions forgetting those focused on primary care prevention health education so through a proposal for MI Stage 1 a comprehensive program is proposed impacting on the quality of life of older adults through health promotion.
