Managing Resistance to IT Implementation in Schools

About The Book

Despite the many benefits of IT systems especially in driving business strategies the issue of users’ resistance to IT implementations has become an issue that must be effectively managed to ensure successful IT system implementations. Recent studies on professionals from different industrial sectors have correctly identified the factors of resistance to IT as ‘perceived usefulness’ ‘perceived ease of use’ and resistance to change. However not all the studies agree on the significance of ‘perceived ease of use’ to users’ intention to use IT. This book which is based on a research with a focus on IT in schools provides further exploration of this issue by investigating the factors of teachers’ resistance to school information systems (SIS) implementations and highlighting implications for IT implementation teams in the management of teachers’ resistance to SIS. The book provides an IT implementation strategy crafted to suit the case study and which may be adapted by other schools.
