Maps and Chipper

<p>Two World War I recruits enlist as flyers in the British Army and a young woman enrolls as a nurse. Together they learn to survive the military fly and eat rabbits. Learning to fly however does not always go as planned! Their story is told in a light-hearted manner with broad appeal to all readers in the delightfully entertaining novel <em>Maps and Chipper.</em> Maps Medlicott is an Army soldier who decides that flying would be a much better way to serve his country. Chipper McGraw is the son of a Navy carpenter who steps into the wrong office and becomes a pilot. Victoria is a naive nurse adored by all. She cares for everyone but loves no one. The adventures of these three characters intertwine at a recruit training school in the early years of the First World War. The next two books in the series are <em>Maps and Chipper - The Secret Aeroplane</em> and <em>Maps and Chipper - The Extraordinary Escape</em>. </p><p></p><p>Born in the Cotswolds of England near Stratford-On-Avon David Gubbins now lives in Luzern Switzerland. He based the book on a story he used to tell when he was a Royal Air Force recruit in the 1980s. He has spent 30 years working with aircraft and is currently a technical writer in Switzerland.
