Marbles & Marvels

<p>Marbles & Marvels is a nursery rhyme for small children.</p><p></p><p><strong><em><u>If a child knows my rhymes they will know some important key ideas about the history topic</u></em></strong>.</p><p></p><p>It is a short story about the Elgin Marbles that were in the Parthenon in Greece.</p><p></p><p>Lord Elgin had them moved from Greece to England. England rulers placed in a museum. Museum cleaners chipped them and some children did not follow the rules in the museum. A Queen had them moved to a back hall during wartime.</p><p></p><p>The cleaners and children are the marvels. Some people believe the marbles should be returned to Greece while others do not.</p><p></p><p>There is a replica of the Parthenon in Nashville TN. It was built in 1897.</p><p></p><p>Educators and parents should discuss the background of the marbles with children which will aid with understanding and help children remember the history that surrounds them.</p>
