MARINE DEBRIS PROBLEMS AND MANAGEMENT

The ever increasing volume of Marine Debris has been a cause of concern world over. The reason for such concern come from the fact that the materials once getting entry into marine systems will not or very slowing be broken down. It was found that paper bits tickets etc. take about two week to get degraded. Vegetable matters take about a couple of years to get degraded. Cigarette butts which is very common among Marine Debris will take about five years to get eraced from the seas.Marine litter has now become a political and public agenda. It is therefore pertinent to bring out a comprehensive study on the problems and management of marine solid wastes.
