Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous multifactorial disorder that has a prevalence of 12%-21% amongst reproductive-age women; however it is more prevalent during adolescence. PCOS has a complex pathophysiology that entails genetic and environmental factors. Lifestyle has a critical role in the clinical manifestations of PCOS. PCOS clinical manifestations such as hyperandrogenism obesity concern about appropriate weight and impaired body image may negatively influence quality of life (QoL) in PCOS patients predisposing them to anxiety distress sexual dysfunction and vice versa. Lifestyle intervention with a focus on IR and metabolic dysfunction is the first line of PCOS treatment.
