Maritime energy transition in Africa

This book analyzes the technical economic and institutional obstacles hindering the energy transition of the maritime sector in Africa. It highlights the persistent dependence on fossil fuels the obsolescence of port infrastructures the weakness of electricity networks and the lack of incentive policies. Through case studies (Tangier Med Mombasa Cotonou Abidjan) it explores sustainable solutions such as cold ironing renewable energies intelligent energy management systems logistics digitization and alternative fuels. The book stresses the need to invest in training international cooperation and the development of port research centers. It proposes an African model for intelligent energy-efficient and resilient ports drawing on local potential and public-private partnerships to achieve energy transition in a context of sustainability and competitiveness.
