In Market Price For Love a woman explores the pain and solitude of being married to an alcoholic and her guilt over moving into a new life as she addresses her former husband herself and her new husband. Though abused and isolated in her first marriage during their overseas deployment she struggles to find the resolve to remove herself from the violence. She then describes a period of transition as she reconciles her mourning with her anger. Finally she reflects on her journey and what it means to bear the scars of abuse. The poems highlight the chaotic nature of desperation and pain the power of nostalgia and the peace that develops with acceptance.
