About The Author: Janis R. Ehlers is the founder and president of The Ehlers Group Inc. a strategic marketing and communications company specializing in housing for active adults and senior consumers. Her career offers a r?sum? highlighted with corporate experience as the communications director for the Century Villages of Cenvill Communities and vice president of Levitt & Sons opening over 50 communities across the country. She has been a consultant since 1995 when she formed her company.Janis believes that in successfully selling to this consumer segment one needs to first sell to the heart and then to the mind. The philosophy that guides the creative efforts of the company is that often customers do not need to move; they need to want to move. The ability to listen to customers and their families is behind the work created by The Ehlers Group. Janis is a frequent presenter at many state and national trade associations geared to the industry including Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) Association of America Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) Florida Homes for the Aging (FAHA) the Retirement Housing Council of Florida and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council.In 2009 Janis was selected to serve on the board of trustees for the NAHB's 50+ Housing Council. She has been involved in many civic cultural and professional organizations nationally and in South Florida including Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) the Gold Coast Builders Association (GCBA) and the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. She has an MBA in real estate development and marketing from Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor's degree in journalism/public relations from the University of Florida.
