Manson Lee Clark of the rural Chambers County Texas community of Covecompiled such a record spanning more than sixty years of his outdoor experiencesand observations with the wildlife of southeast Texas. In all truthfulness it must bestated that Clark did not have the future work of historians in mind when he begankeeping records so many years ago. He simply recorded facts figures and dates forhis own future reference rather than having to face the prospect of later relying uponhis memory to recall such matters. The result became the compilation of probablyone of the most detailed accounts of outdoor life in south-east Texas during the betterpart of the twentieth century. It consists of all the ingredients of mans endeavors: achievements failures trials and errors. It records from an individual perspectiveboth the good and difficult times.
