His association with white men as he matured changed from hatred to dislike to acceptance to friendship. This was his social preparation for his role; his studies in Theology and Philosophy were his intellectual and spiritual preparation. This book is a fascinating account of the inter-relationship of Martin Luther King Jr. and the teachings and philosophies of the Church. While there are many books on Dr. King and while it would be impossible to write about him without studying these factors the specific examination that Rev. Rahming covers lends a unique aspect not found in many books of much greater length. Perhaps one of the most significant aspects of this book is the way in which the author details how King saw the Church in regards to his civil rights mission and how his vision of the Church altered as his work progressed. This book makes fine supplementary reading material in Social Studies Social Work Political Science Religion Sociology Black Studies and will serve pastors who deal with similar moral issues.</p>
