Meanings of domestic violence

Domestic violence against women has gained notoriety in various sectors of society due to its harmful consequences and because it constitutes a violation of human rights. The aim of the book was to understand the meaning of domestic violence for women victims of aggression and to identify factors that contribute to its cessation. It contains a conceptual definition of domestic violence social construction of gender and the cultural pillars that underpin violence. This is a qualitative study using social research methods. The results were divided into 'Experience of Violent Acts' which refers to the period during which the women lived with the aggressor; 'Marks of Violent Acts' in which the women point out the marks of violence that remained after they broke up with the aggressor; 'Support for Women' in which they describe the support they had or would have liked to have during the process of breaking up with the aggressor. The book contributed to our understanding of the meaning of domestic violence with all its specificities providing support for women and those who seek to end violence.
