The Petroleum Engineering Certificate (PEC) Program at Midwestern State University is designed to prepare individuals to work in the oil and gas industries. The PEC program is primarily concerned with physical geology fluid and rock properties formation evaluation exploration development drilling and management of oil and gas resources. The PEC program will help individuals to understand reservoir engineering production engineering drilling engineering and oil well completion. Upon completion students will be able to design and select drilling and production equipment estimate reserves and manage oil and gas properties. The number of credit hours required for the PEC program is 20 semester credit hours. Rationale: 1. The PEC program is open to students who have completed the prerequisites for PEC courses. Some transferred petroleum engineering courses may be applied toward the PEC program after evaluation by the School of Engineering. There are three types of students who may be considered for admission to the certificate program those who have already completed a bachelor’s degree and apply as post-baccalaureate.
