Mechanical properties of similex zelanica fiber reinforced composite

The aim of this book is to develop and characterize Smilax Zeylanica Fiber reinforced polymer composite. To check the suitability of Smilax Zeylanica Fiber as reinforcement in polyester resin matrix is studied by determining the static mechanical properties (hardness Tensile Flexural Impact strengths). Composite specimens are prepared using hand lay-up method. The effect of fiber length of Smilax Zeylanica fibers over composite strength is determined. In this work Smilax Zeylanica fiber reinforced polyester composite was produced via hand lay-up technique. The fiber length of Smilax Zeylanica fiber was varied accordingly (i.e. 5mm 10mm).
