Media and Education: Teachers' cultural representations

About The Book

The aim of this research is to address the issue of representations and to this end to discuss the media as a cultural artifact in the field of education more specifically in schools. Thus the object of this study is to investigate how teachers represent and produce meanings about the insertion of the media in their educational action and with this to problematize the media its representation in education and in the pedagogical practice of teachers at a public basic education school. It also investigates how the school in the face of contemporary society which influences cultural identity offers different means of socialization while at the same time promoting the decentring of culture. The research is qualitative in nature and is based on theoretical references the conception of which includes Cultural Studies. This theoretical field is rooted in cultural materialism as it encompasses the media as well as analyzing the media and has a large contribution from researchers who investigate these relationships making it an eminently interdisciplinary field.
