OAB: Minimising Symptoms and Maximising Life: Using Cognitive-Behavioural Techniques

About The Book

In the Urogynaecology Department at Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust we have long known that the impact of Overactive Bladder for women with the condition reaches far beyond physical symptoms alone. The condition can hugely affect everyday life in lots of different ways. This could be in your career socially within your family or in how you feel emotionally. For many years the department have been extremely keen to support their patients with these issues from early in their treatment journey. We want our patients to feel empowered to make decisions about their treatment and be able to live life to the full alongside their symptoms. This book is a culmination of eight year’s work addressing the psychological and social impact of bladder incontinence. The material in this book is based on the content of a group course offered at our hospital. This book is for women who experience bladder problems and incontinence. Although it is specifically aimed at those with urgency and frequency problems (commonly associated with an Overactive Bladder) much of the material is applicable to bladder problems more generally.
